Robert Fisher, 67, of Geneva Terrace, Fairfield, was charged with public indecency and breach of the peace for masturbating in his van in the parking lot at Sasco Beach, police report.
A young female witness called Fairfield Police around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday to report a man masturbating in a white van with green markings. According to the witness, the windows of the van were rolled down and the suspect was in plain view of many beachgoers.
Fairfield Police saw Fisher driving a van that matched the description north on South Pine Creek Road soon after receiving the call, and stopped him. Inside, they found evidence of his actions, including a pornographic DVD. The witness positively identified Fisher as the suspect. Though he initially denied being at the beach, when taken into Police Headquarters Fisher admitted to committing the crime. Fisher was released on a promise to appear in court on June 7.
Fisher was named as a suspect in a similar incident at the beach in 2007. In that case, witnesses saw a man masturbating while watching a DVD, also in a white van in Sascos parking lot. However, Fisher was not arrested at the time.
