The Fairfield Fire Department welcomed a new officer to its ranks Thursday night. Firefighter Justin Greenhaw was promoted to lieutenant in a ceremony before the Fairfield Fire Commissions meeting at the Fairfield Public Library. Greenhaw will replace Lt. Brad Sherman, who is retiring after 33 years with the department.
Greenhaw has been a member of the Fairfield Fire Department since 2004. He also currently serves as treasurer for the Fairfield Firefighters Association (International Association of Fire Fighters Local 1426). Before joining Fairfields firefighters, Greenhaw served in the U.S. Air Force.
Greenhaws parents flew from California to watch their son's promotion ceremony Thursday night. They looked on as Greenhaw was sworn in by Town Attorney Richard Saxl and Fire Chief Richard Felner with the Fire Commission watched.
