Its never too late to learn, just ask Sharon Bradley, who recently earned a doctorate of nursing practice from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. Bradley focused her degree on the use of telehealth, which refers to monitoring and other medical services provided remotely.
Bradley, president and CEO of Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County in Wilton, said in a press release: I believe it is my responsibility to bring as many tools and as much knowledge to the position as possible.
Telehealth is a state-of-the-art audio and video system that allows seniors to have real-time access to a nurse while they continue to live at home, the release said. The system also comes with a blood pressure cuff, pulse oximeter (to check blood oxygen levels) and stethoscope and can supplement regular nurse visits or trips to the hospital.
Telehealth gives new meaning to the term around-the-clock-care and it is wonderful to see so many patients really becoming comfortable with the system. Home Telehealth has repeatedly demonstrated positive outcomes for patients, particularly in terms of keeping them safe at home and out of the hospital, Bradley said in the release.
Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County has provided people and families with health and wellness care programs for almost 90 years.
