FAIRFIELD, Conn. A pair of Bridgeport teen-agers were charged in the attempted theft of a motorized scooter parked on North Benson Road Tuesday afternoon.
The scooters owner told police that he left the vehicle chained underneath Interstate 95 after it broke down. When he returned about 2:40 p.m. he saw two young men trying to break the chain. The suspects then ran down Kinney Drive when confronted.
Police stopped Cesar Navarro, 19, and a 16-year-old male on Round Hill Road. Navarro had a bolt cutter with him, according to police reports. The two were taken to the scene of the incident and identified as the suspects by the scooter's owner, police say.
Navarro and the juvenile were both charged with attempted third-degree larceny and conspiracy, police say. Navarro was held on a $2,500 bond and is due in court July 9. The juvenile was released to his guardian on a promise to appear in court on July 6.
