Driving with a suspended license is definitely not a good idea. Driving erratically too is even worse, as Norwalk resident Andy Rivera found out Sunday night in Westport.
According to reports, Rivera, 26, was traveling at a high rate of speed on Riverside Avenue when he passed a police cruiser. He was also seen swerving in and out of his lane. When stopped by police, Rivera told the officer that his license was suspended. After a computer check confirmed it, he was taken into custody.
When Rivera exited his car, the officer saw a small plastic bag filled with a white powdery substance next to the driver's seat. The substance was later discovered to be cocaine.
Rivera was charged with possession of a controlled substance, operating a motor vehicle under suspension and failure to drive right. He is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 4.
