Westport resident Cynthia Donato of 785 Post Road E. was charged with DUI Sunday night after she was stopped for driving erratically. Police reports said Donato, 42, was driving on Saugatuck Avenue when she "abruptly" put her car in reverse, backed onto a sidewalk and hit a street sign. The officer smelled alcohol on her breath and gave Donato field sobriety tests, which she failed. Donato was also charged with unsafe backing and is due in court Sept. 29.

Hamden resident Christine Anthony was picked up by Cheshire police Friday night on a warrant from Westport The warrant stems from an April incident in which Anthony, 24, allegedly stole and used the credit card of a friend she was visiting in town. She is charged with theft of a credit card, illegal use of a credit card, and fifth-degree larceny. Anthony is due in court Sept. 27.
