Nassau County police were called to a Florence Avenue residence in Great Neck at about 9:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, for a reported disturbance.
Eric Vasquez of Great Neck and the 40-year-old victim had been arguing when Vasquez pulled out a folding knife and stabbed the man in the neck several times, police said.
Fearing for his safety, the victim called 911, according to detectives.
Vasquez was located a short time later and taken into custody without incident, police said.
He was charged with second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Vasquez was scheduled to be arraigned Saturday, Aug. 29, at First District Court in Hempstead.
