Bernice Liba and the Fairfield County Chapter of the Embroiderers' Guild of America Inc. spent their Friday the 13th in a quiet room in the back of the Westport Library. When fingers weren't working a needle or piece of thread, they might have slid toward a piece of chocolate or two.
We have a youth group we meet with and we do outreach work in Greenwich and Wilton, Liba said, keeping her eyes on the task at hand. The guild also knits hats and shawls for area hospital cancer centers. Liba serves as the group's acting president.
Members meet for practice groups twice a month, on the second and fourth Fridays. They have a larger monthly meeting as well on the fourth Monday, though that takes a hiatus through the summer.
