EASTON, Conn. The Easton Police Department and the Easton Senior Center are now open for any residents seeking shelter in the aftermath of a historic October snowstorm.
About 45 percent of the town's residents were without power, First Selectman Thomas Herrmann said Sunday morning. Crews from United Illuminating Co. and the Easton Department of Public Works are on the scene. "We do not have a restoration time frame," Herrmann said.
Meals Ready to Eat and bottles of water are available at the Easton Police Department, located at 700 Morehouse Road. The Senior Center, located 650 Morehouse Road, is open and can be used as a charging station for residents without power.
The major roads in town are "generally passable," said Herrmann, but he was urging residents to stay off the roads during the cleanup.
