Dutchess Projects Gain State Funding

SOUTHWEST DUTCHESS, N.Y. -- The Mid-Hudson region recently received $90.4 million from the state, which will help fund 21 projects in Dutchess County, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo has announced more than $2.2 billion in economic development awards for 10 regional councils across the state. The Hudson Valley will receive part of the award.

Overall, the state delivered $2.25 billion for economic development to 10 regional councils, including $1.5 billion split over the next five years among three first-prize winners, the Finger Lakes, Southern Tier and the Central regional councils, the newspaper said.

Hudson Valley council members said they were pleased with the results, despite not receiving one of the top allotments, added the Poughkeepsie Journal.

Many of the Dutchess County projects received more than $300,000, the newspaper added.
