Driver's Race Will Benefit Norwalk's STAR Inc.

Race car driver Justin Piscitell has seen for himself the help that STAR Inc., Lighting the Way gives people: Piscitell's younger brother has a developmental disability, and his family has relied on STAR for services from the day the boy was born. "STAR really helped him--with his speech and they came to the house to help him learn to walk," Piscitell said in a release. "They've done so much from when he was born, and growing up. Now he's a super happy person."

Piscitell wants to reciprocate. That's why the young racer will be donating proceeds from his race on Saturday at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville. Piscitell's race in the the Memorial Day Classic, part of the GrandAm Road Racing Series, takes place at 10:30 a.m.

"STAR did a lot for my little brother from the very beginning, and this is my way of giving back," Piscitell said. "It just puts a twinkle in my eye to see him."

Piscitell has been racing for four years, and his achievements include his first championship in 2008. Another title earned him his first professional year of sponsorship from Mazda in the Playboy MX-5 Cup. Since then, he's been touring with Murillo Racing.

"Lime Rock Park is my home track, but I race all over the country, so this is the closest I'll be to STAR for a while," he said. "I'm hoping to see everyone from STAR at the race!"

For information about the race or to donate proceeds to individuals with developmental disabilities, contact STAR at (203) 846-9581. Admission is $25 for the day's races.
