Drivers Caught Up In Smoke

For Louis DeFrancesco of Norwalk, a midnight cruise around Saugatuck landed him in a pot-load of trouble with Westport police. DeFrancesco, 42, was spotted Tuesday morning for reportedly driving in a suspicious manner around the Saugatuck area. When stopped, the officer could smell marijuana coming from inside the car. After searching both car and driver, the officer found rolling papers on DeFrancesco and two marijuana cigarettes the car. He is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He is due in court Sept. 1.

• Andrew Hernandez, 25, was stopped Tuesday by police on the Sherwood Island Connector because of improperly displayed plates. When officers approached Hernandez's car, they could smell marijuana inside. After searching Hernandez, police found a marijuana bowl and a baggie containing marijuana in his pocket. He is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He is due to appear in court Sept. 3.
