Westport police stopped Weston resident Melinda Betesh-Montrose on Sept. 17 after receiving a call of a possible hit-and-run accident on Main Street. Police were told that a car was being driven with a flat tire along Main Street. The car may have hit another vehicle. Police found the car at 326 Main St. In speaking with the driver, Betesh-Montrose, officers smelled alcohol on her breath. Betesh-Montrose, 36, refused a breath test and failed field sobriety tests.
She was charged with operating under the influence, failure to drive right, failure to carry a license and insurance coverage below the minimum. She is scheduled to appear in court Friday.

Milagros Astacio, 43, of Bridgeport, was stopped by Westport police Sunday after a patrolling officer checked her license plate and found it had been canceled. A further check revealed that the plate was stolen. Astacio was charged with sixth-degree larceny, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, misuse of plates and insurance coverage below the minimum. She is due in court Sept. 29.
