The driver involved in an early morning crash Friday in Westport was transported to Norwalk Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries, Assistant Fire Chief William Dingee said in a statement.
Shortly after 3 a.m., Westport firefighters, police and EMS responded to a call of rollover accident near 302 Compo Road S. and found a Jeep Grand Cherokee resting on its roof. The driver was still inside, hanging by his seatbelt.
The driver, who was removed by EMS and firefighters, apparently veered off the roadway and hit a parked Jeep Wrangler on the side of the road, causing his Jeep to rollover.
Riverside Sunoco towed both Jeeps. The last fire department unit had left the accident scene by 4:15 a.m. Westport police were investigating.
