Stamford resident Jetnor Pocesta was charged with driving under the influence early Saturday after he made an illegal U-turn on Riverside Avenue. According to reports, Pocesta, 20, then crossed the double yellow centerline while driving west on Treadwell Avenue.
Pocesta failed field sobriety tests and was charged with failure to drive in the proper lane well as DUI. He is due in court Oct. 12.

Westporter Gary Effman of 4 Crawford Road, turned himself into Westport police Friday night on an active warrant. The warrant from Fairfield stemmed from a June incident in which Effman, 46, allegedly violated a town ordinance and failed to pay or plead. He is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on Oct. 12.
