Driver Charged After Speeding Stop In Pound Ridge

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – Pound Ridge police arrested a Stamford, Conn., man on Sunday and charged him with driving with a suspended license, a misdemeanor.

Police said officers stopped a vehicle for speeding on Westchester Avenue about 10:05 p.m. A check with the Department of Motor Vehicles revealed that the man’s driving privileges were suspended in New York.

Juan C. Rivero, 50, was charged with third-degree aggravated unauthorized operation of a motor vehicle. He also received a summons accusing him of driving 51 mph in a 30 mph zone.

Rivero was released on $100 bail and is due in court Dec. 10.

The following items also were reported by Pound Ridge police:

Car Crash: On Wednesday, Nov. 21, about 10:43 p.m., police responded to a two-car accident on Westchester Avenue. No injuries were reported and no tow was necessary.

Downed Wires: On Saturday, Nov. 24, police were called to Salem Road for an obstruction in the road. Police discovered that a tree and wires were down and blocking the roadway. New York State Electric & Gas was on the scene and the situation was remedied.

Suspicious Pair: Police were called to East Kinnicut Road on Saturday on a report of a suspicious person. The homeowner told officers that two people were seen in a nearby wooded area. Officers checked the area with no results. The homeowner was advised to call police if the individuals were spotted again.

Car Crash: Police responded to a two-car accident on Route 137 about 8:54 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27. No injuries were reported and no tow was necessary.
