FAIRFIELD, Conn. A Bridgeport woman and a Stamford man were charged with shoplifting in Fairfield Tuesday afternoon. The two were arrested after they were turned in by a relative, police said.
The alleged incident occurred Tuesday morning at the CVS Pharmacy on Black Rock Turnpike. Store employees told police a couple allegedly placed bottles of baby formula and other items into bags and left the store without paying, police said.
A few hours later, a Bridgeport woman called police to report she believed her niece and her boyfriend shoplifted that day, police said. The caller said the two asked for a ride to CVS and when they got back in the car told her to hurry up and drive, police said. Police went to the home and allegedly found the duo matched the suspects in the earlier incident, police said.
Annie Turoczi, 21, of Bridgeport and Paul Gaites, 24, of Stamford were charged with sixth-degree larceny and conspiracy. Gaites, 24, also was charged on three outstanding warrants for failing to appear in court for previous incidents, police said. Both are due in court April 10.
