Dorothy Friedling, Former Cheerleader

Dorothy V. Friedling, 86, of Stamford died Thursday, June 9. She was born April 24, 1925, in Rockville, N.Y.

A graduate of East Rockaway High School, Friedling was a girl scout and cheerleader growing up. After high school she went to secretarial school and later worked as a bookkeeper and hostess. According to her family, if asked about her death, Friedling would have said, “It was a marvy life, baby! See ya on the morrow!”

Friedling is survived by a daughter, Georgia Ellis; a son, William Ellis Jr. and his wife, Amy; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church on Tuesday, June 14, at 11 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Friedling’s name to the National Association of Down Syndrome, P.O. Box 206, Wilmette, IL 60091, or to the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, 282 Washington St., Hartford, CT 06106. Funeral arrangements were handled by the Bosak Funeral Home.
