New Jersey State Police Forensic Anthropologist Donna Fontana, whose work has been featured on “America’s Most Wanted” and elsewhere, determined that the victim was more than 45 years old, between 5-foot-4 and 5-foot-7 and may have been of a racial mixture, said NJSP Sgt. Stephen Jones.

He wore upper and lower dentures that had been repaired at one time — which helped in the reconstruction.
The only clothing recovered when the remains were found on Aug. 23, 2006 were a black sock and a size 11 EEE “Propet” shoe.

Fontana, 54, worked in relative obscurity for several years. But reality programs such as “America’s Most Wanted,” as well as fictional ones, such as “Bones,” have brought her work — a bit of art and a bit of science itself — to the fore.
She’s helped identify 9/11 victims, as well as those killed in plane crashes, including one in which a commuter jet smashed into a Queens neighborhood in 2001. She also gets to work at a State Police laboratory in Hamilton Township that is considered one of the country’s premiere facilities of its kind.
“I treat them as family members,” she once told The Star-Ledger of Newark, “so I can be sure I give them everything I can.”
