Today, there's a twofer: a tour of private gardens of exquisite homes in Westport and Fairfield on the Westport Historical Society's Hidden Garden Tour and, an Artisan Craft and Garden Marketplace, with on-going live music and kids' entertainment. The garden tour takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday, June 13. Included are a unique property above the river, an artists enclave sheltered by a yacht harbor, a sustainable green living house and garden, a manor enveloped in perennials, an elegant colonial surrounded by mature trees and roses, and a warm and welcoming outdoor oasis designed in concert with the lands natural contour. In between the tour, visit an Artisan Craft and Garden Marketplace taking over the grounds of the Westport Historical Society, 25 Avery Place, Westport, and the adjacent Veterans Green, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free. A trove of garden and home treasures presented by numerous area artisans and vendors are available for purchase. Singer-songwriter Irena Hart quickens the pace when she performs with her band, Heart Strings. Catch a Healthy Habit Café serves lunch and magic maestro Tony Spero keeps the kids mesmerized.
Garden tour admission the day of the tour is $50. For tickets, call 203-222-1424, stop by the Historical Society or visit www.westporthistory.org.
