Officers were dispatched to the Delaware County Intermediate Unit (DCIU) at 85 N. Malin Road at 2:16 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, after an alarm was activated, according to Marple Township Police.
The alarm was triggered when a current staff member saw a former staff member inside the building who was not permitted to be there, police said. The person’s whereabouts were unknown after the sighting.
The school was immediately placed on lockdown as officers from Marple Township and surrounding departments responded, established a perimeter, and searched the building, authorities said.
While officers cleared the school, investigators were able to make contact with the former staff member in another jurisdiction, police said.
No threats were made inside the school, and there was no danger to the community, according to authorities.
The investigation remains ongoing.
