POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — Poughkeepsie resident Deborah T. "Debbie" Shaffer died on Sunday, May 1. She was 47.
She was born on Sept.26, 1968, in Manhattan to Peter and Margaret Waldron Clifford.
Shaffer worked as a central service technician at Kingston Hospital.
She married Alfred F. Shaffer, Jr. on April 18, 1987.
She is survived by her husband; her mother; her son, Michael Shaffer and his partner, Mike Green; daughters, Stephanie Savva and her husband, Harry and Samantha Britton and her husband, Chris; and her two grandchildren, Louis and Lydia Savva.
She also is survived by her sisters, Peggy Tavarez, Florence Duncan, Patricia Clifford, and Catherine Meisner; and her brother, Michael Clifford.
Family will receive their friends on Thursday, May 5, from 5-9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main St., Wappingers Falls, N.Y. 12590.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 6, at 2 p.m. at St. Mary's Church, 11 Clinton St., in Wappingers Falls.
Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, in Hyde Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Shaffer's name may be made to the Foundation for Vassar Brothers Medical Center for the Dyson Cancer Center, 45 Reade Place, Poughkeepsie, N.Y. 12601.
