Darien To Host Back To School Study Workshop

DARIEN, Conn. – Darien students will have a chance to hone their studying strategies before classes start up again in the fall. The Successful Study Skills 4 Students program will hold a five-session workshop for middle schoolers at Middlesex Middle School starting Aug. 13.

The interactive classes are taught by accredited teachers and integrate the students’ own curriculum with strategies and methodologies designed to improve study skills. The classes will focus on 10 important areas: goal setting, time management, note taking methods, the importance of asking questions, active reading strategies, understanding main ideas and important details, using pictures and graphic organizers, summarizing to learn, notebook organization and quiz, test and exam preparation strategies.

“We are so pleased to once again offer the S4 workshops at Middlesex this fall so that area middle school students can take advantage of these important tools,” said Michelle Sagalyn, president of S4. “We know that implementing even a single new skill can make a big difference in a student’s love of learning.”

The classes will be held from Aug. 13 through 17 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. There will also be take-home materials designed to complement the workshop lessons. The fee for the class is $395.

The class is limited to 15 to students to ensure that all students get personalized attention. Previous workshops held at Middlesex have been completely full. Click here to register for the workshop.
