DARIEN, Conn. Summer is waning, and Darien's kids will be heading back to school soon. Darien Schools Superintendent Stephen Falcone has released the following opening and closing times for Mondays first session:
? Tokeneke, Hindley and Royle Elementary schools open at 8:25 a.m. and close at 2:55 p.m.
? Ox Ridge and Holmes open at 9 a.m. and close at 3:30 p.m.
? Middlesex Middle School opens at 7:55 a.m. and closes at 2:22 p.m.
? Darien High School opens at 7:40 a.m. and close at 2:20 p.m.
A special one-hour kindergarten visit has been scheduled for the first day. Orientation times vary by school, and parents will receive written notification from their school principals. Parents should plan to provide transportation and participate in the orientation with their children.
Kindergarten dismissal times from Tuesday, Aug. 30, through Friday, Sept. 9, will be at 12:25 p.m. for Tokeneke, Hindley and Royle schools and 1 p.m. for Holmes and Ox Ridge. Beginning Monday, Sept. 12, kindergarten dismissal will occur at the same time as that of students in grades one through five.
Specific information on dismissals, such as students being picked up at the end of the day, will be sent to parents in the mail. Darien schools will release bus schedules on Thursday, Aug. 25.
