Congratulations to Susan Daly, Lisa Joyce, Kiki Karpen, Grace Lichtenstein and Jeanne Marconi, MD. And Katie Grozier. Each of these local ladies has been recognized as a Woman of Distinction with an award by the Darien YWCA for her outstanding achievements. Also receiving special recognition is longtime Darien resident and former employer Anne Flanagan, who received a Distinguished Service Award. Anne joined the YWCA Darien/Norwalk when she moved to Darien from New York City in 1990 with her four children and remains a dedicated member to this day. The women will be honored at a special luncheon June 6.
Bravo to Darien High School seniors Ally Reis, Emily Ackers, Jen Dorris, Ingrid Lundeen, Emma Getsinger, Bella Carrara, Laura Byrne, Grace Daly, Megan Keane, Lee Bolton, Katie Kirkman, Andrew McGary, Paris LaRock and Kyle King for their successful opening of the Darien High School Senior Art Show last Wednesday. The exhibtion featured art from the students in the areas of drawing, painting, silkscreen, photography, graphic design, sculpture and ceramics.
It was an outstanding night for Darien High Schoolers Graham Ross, James McEwan, Stockton McMullin, who were among the award winners of the First Annual Woodworking Competition held at the high school Monday. The students took first through third place in the categories of "Originality" and "Quality of Finish." Dariens Clay Baxter took "Best in Show" for his kayak. The competition included work from 36 students and was conceived by Rich Lee to create a platform for Fairfield County students to showcase their work. Fellow woodworking teachers Jeromy Nelson and Lee Strecker also helped and came out to support the students.
