The Ox Ridge fifth-grade Girl Scout troop, organized by Sharon Petricelli and Heather Drugge, joined the Friends of Selleck's Woods and the Darien Land Trust to enhance the nature education along the trail at the 50-acre nature preserve Selleck's and Dunlap Woods.
Each Girl Scout was responsible for researching and painting an image of a tree onto a plaque. At a ceremony May 5, the scouts described the preferred habitat and characteristics of each tree and attached a plaque to each tree. The trees included a shagbark hickory, a willow, a cedar and a tulip tree.
