Darien Driver Almost Goes Into the Drink

DARIEN, Conn. – A Darien woman was arrested after police said she almost drove her car into Tilley Pond. Jammi Jones, 51, of 246 Noroton Ave. was charged with DWI and failure to drive right.

Police received a call the night of April 17 from a resident saying he had seen a car drive off Sedgwick Avenue into Tilley Pond Park. Police arrived and found Jones’s car stuck between a lamppost and a tree, which were preventing it from going into the Pond.

The car's front end was heavily damaged. Police said Jones appeared disoriented and confused and was having trouble maintaining her balance. Officers also reported detecting the strong odor of alcohol. They said Jones was unable to explain the circumstances that led to the eaccident.

Jones failed a field sobriety test and was arrested. She was released on a $250 bond and will go to court April 27.
