DARIEN, Conn. The Darien 6th Grade Wave captured its first win of the season in the Fairfield County Football League, decisively defeating Westport South, 19-12. The upfront blocking by Dylan Fram, Teddy Brannigan, Teddy Ruppenstein, Sean O'Malley, Peter Gutusso, Elliot Doll and Patrick Burke plowed the way for Max Grant's 45-yard touchdown run, Mitchell Pryor's 1-yard score and several critical fourth-down runs by Justin Jordan. The defense was strong, as highlighted by Dylan Buckner's interception and 20-yard return and Teddy Brannigan's 20-yard interception for a touchdown. Brannigan caught the pass after it was deflected by Patrick Burke. There was also a jarring tackle by linebacker Jackson McNear, which led to a fumble recovery and Darien's second touchdown. The Darien defensive backs were led by Carr Noonan, Cameron Raia and Dylan Buckner. Send your youth football recaps and pictures to [email protected].
