DARIEN, Conn. The Darien Babe Ruth 13-year-old team began the state tournament Saturday with a 10-0 win over Fairfield. The game was shortened to five innings because of the mercy rule.
Tyler Costantino pitched five shutout innings, striking out four batters and giving up only two hits. The offense was led by Andrew Enzor (single, triple, four RBIs), Jake Frasca (single, double, RBI), and Brian Walsh (two singles, RBI). Enzo Stefanoni and Stephen Barston also had hits.
The Darien 13s will back in action Sunday at 2:30 p.m. against Ridgefield, a 7-5 winner over New London. The complete bracket is available on the Ridgefield Babe Ruth website.
