Daquian Juan Brown, 31, was sentenced on Tuesday, Aug. 11, after a Cumberland County jury convicted him in June of aggravated arson, arson endangering persons, arson endangering property, recklessly endangering another person, and criminal mischief in connection with the Oct. 17, 2025, fire.
Brown ignited bedding and other items inside his SCI Camp Hill cell by tampering with an electrical outlet, causing smoke to fill a restrictive housing unit and forcing the evacuation of approximately 50 inmates, according to prosecutors.
Judge Christylee L. Peck imposed concurrent sentences, including 10 to 20 years in state prison on the aggravated arson convictions. Brown also received concurrent sentences for the remaining convictions, no further penalty on the criminal mischief count, and was ordered to submit a DNA sample. The sentences will run concurrent with the sentence he is already serving, and he was found ineligible for the Recidivism Risk Reduction Incentive program.
The Cumberland County District Attorney's Office sought a mandatory minimum sentence because Brown had a prior conviction for a crime of violence.
The case was prosecuted by First Assistant District Attorney Courtney Hair LaRue and investigated by Trooper Amy Kocher-Fry of Pennsylvania State Police Carlisle. Trooper Cody Reed of the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal Unit and Cumberland County Director of Victim Services Adrianne Vaughn also assisted in the case.
