Daniel Wortmann, 94, Loved Golf

STAMFORD, Conn. ? Daniel Wortmann, 94, died on Friday, Nov. 11, at Venice Regional Hospital in Florida.

He worked for the Stamford Water Company for 35 years, retiring as superintendent. Wortmann served in the Army in Europe during World War II, from 1944 to 1946.

Wortmann was the captain of the Stamford High School golf team and continued playing long after he graduated. His accomplishments on the links include Stamford City Golf Champion, Connecticut State Golf Champion, New England Golf Champion and five holes in one.

Wortmann is survived by his wife, Betty Edward Wortmann; his daughter Joyce Walgren; three grandchildren and two grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Marion Hunt Wortmann, and two brothers, John and Gerard.

Memorial services will be private, and interment will take place at Fairlawn Park in Stamford.
