CVS to Partition Store For Second Retailer

ARMONK, N.Y. - The CVS issue took an exciting turn Wednesday when a letter from Alfred DelBello, the lawyer representing Eden Enterprises, the owner of 450 Main St., to Joseph Monticelli, the chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals was circulated.

In the letter, DelBello said CVS plans to restructure the space to provide a separate entrance for another retail establishment. The plan is to partition 2,500 feet of space from the CVS store to create a separate retail unit.

The move will require CVS to submit its plan to the town and secure a site plan, a special use permit and Architectural Review Board approval, which are the issues behind the Concerned Citizens of Armonk’s appeal of the building permit issued to CVS in November that the Zoning Board of Appeals will hear at a meeting Thursday night.

DelBello said the CVS plans have nothing to do with the Concerned Citizens of Armonk’s appeal.

“It’s something that’s been generating for awhile. They’re making changes to the store so we’ll have to file and we wanted the Zoning Board to know so they won’t have to waste their time,” he said.

The Zoning Board of Appeals meeting still will be had, but a note from the board circulated by North Castle Town Clerk Anne Curran said the board will open the public hearing “and immediately adjourn it to April 12 without hearing any presentations, as the questions rendered on the appeal will likely be rendered moot.”

The Concerned Citizens of Armonk took DelBello’s letter as a victory.

“We’re very happy they agreed to go before the town boards like we asked them to,” said Charlene Jacobi, president of Concerned Citizens of Armonk, who owns the Town Center Pharmacy.
