Beefsteak banquets originated in New York City in the mid-19th century as all-you-can-eat events for men only sitting on crates and eating without any utensils.
Women began joining the event after the passage of the 19th Amendment in 1920, when forks, knives and other utensils also became part of the occasion.
The dinner takes place at Farquharson Hall on 1946 Campus Dr. from 6 to 11:30 p.m.
Admissions is all-inclusive and $150. To register, visit www.americanbountyrestaurant.com/events/.
