Cross This Stamford Intersection at Your Own Risk

A break from chilling temperatures Monday created a few curbside puddles in Stamford as snow mounds and ice melted. The standing water (pictured here) at the corner of Summer and Oak streets prohibited pedestrians from reaching the sidewalk without getting sloshed. Even so, puddles in the downtown area could have been much worse. A substantial amount of snow had been hauled to the park area off Washington Boulevard. Expect temperatures back to around freezing Tuesday, Feb. 15, with blustery winds, according to the National Weather Service. But if you enjoyed Monday’s mid-50s high -- despite the meltdown -- look toward Friday. The thermometer reading is expected to go up again as the week progresses.
