RYE, N.Y. Fred Couples maintained a one-stroke lead after 54 holes Saturday, shooting a 3-under par 68 to move to 11-under overall just ahead of Peter Senior and John Cook in the Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship at the Westchester Country Club.
Couples once again played the first nine holes well, going 3-under through nine holes. He has played 11-under par going out on the challenging Westchester Country Club course, while playing even par over the back nine over three rounds.
Senior, a New Zealander, matched Couples 3-under par on the third round and birdied the final hole to draw within one stroke of the lead. Cook, of the United States, registered a 5-under par to close to one shot back.
Sundays final round tee times have been moved up to help avoid late afternoon storms that have been predicted by the National Weather Service. All of the golfers will tee off between 8-10 a.m. and are expected to finish near 3 p.m.
