This weeks column is about firsts. Read and celebrate along.
Congratulations to Lucy Notrica on losing her first tooth!
Congratulations to the Jaeger Family on the addition of Sidney, AKA Sid, to their family. He is their first puppy. They fell in love with this breed of toy poodle when their grandma got Shana from the same breeder.
Massive congratulations to Michelle Palka on competing in and FINISHING her first ever Spartan Race. Michelles niece had participated in this several times and kept asking (begging) Michelle to compete as well. After much encouragement (badgering) from her family and her niece, Michelle accepted the challenge and joined the team. Michelle told me, I was extremely nervous; I never ran a race in my life and you don't know which obstacles you will be up against. My goal was to finish and that I did! Once the race started I was much more at ease after the difficult mud crawl under the barb wire. We had a lot of fun and lots of laughs. We were exhausted and glad to finish an eight-mile race with 20 obstacles in three hours. I would definitely do it again. I am hoping my family will do it with me next time. A portion of the proceeds go to the troops which is how the family got involved in the first place as Michelles nephew is a Marine.
If you are unfamiliar with the Spartan Race like I was, I suggest you check it out its like Wipe-Out on steroids! http://www.spartanrace.com/
Despite the rain, the Hen Hud Cheerleaders in Training cheered their hearts out for the first time at a game with their Varsity Cheer mentors when Hen Hud played against Pelham. Their enthusiasm and spirit didnt waiver and they were, of course, fantastic to watch and listen to.
The Hen Hud JV Cheerleaders had a great time cheering for the JV football team at their first game when Hen Hud played against Port Chester.
For their first go at Halloween decorating, Stephan and Rowan Crabbe decided to play a trick on their mom Leslie and lie in front of the mock gravestones. Funny boys!
