Corey Alan Bennett, 34, an inmate at SCI Camp Hill, is accused of writing two letters addressed to separate county clerks containing threats against the governor, his wife, and the Governor's Residence, according to a release issued Monday, July 27. Prison staff intercepted both letters before they were mailed.

Members of the Pennsylvania State Police Political Violence Threat Unit investigated after the letters were discovered. Bennett admitted writing them during an interview with investigators, police said.

The Cumberland County District Attorney's Office approved a charge of terroristic threats, and Bennett remains incarcerated at SCI Camp Hill.

The latest case is one of several criminal prosecutions Bennett has faced while incarcerated.

Bennett attacked three Cumberland County Prison corrections officers and another inmate in October 2022, leaving all four victims with visible injuries, as Daily Voice previously reported. He later pleaded guilty in separate Franklin County cases involving assault by a prisoner, aggravated harassment by a prisoner, terroristic threats, simple assault, and institutional vandalism, court records show.

Bennett is also a Tier III registered sex offender in Pennsylvania following his 2022 guilty plea to rape by threat of forcible compulsion involving a child victim in Franklin County. He was additionally convicted in Tennessee in 2012 of attempted especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor stemming from a 2010 offense involving a child, according to state sex offender registry records.

Bennett also has a separate Montgomery County case awaiting formal arraignment in which he is charged with terroristic threats, four counts of forgery, and related offenses stemming from an August 2025 incident, court records show.
