At 12:52 a.m.. officers responded to Ivins Avenue in Cardiff after a man threatened his wife and daughter with a knife, Egg Harbor Township police said. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the man, who was standing outside still holding a knife, screaming at his wife, who was locked inside the house, police said.

Despite several orders for him to drop the knife, he continued to advance toward officers and 40 mm less lethal impact round was deployed by Officer Francesco Nastasi, striking the man in his midsection, police said.
