Cops: Man Bashed Norwalk Bar Door With Rock

NORWALK, Conn. – A Westport man who was unhappy about being asked to leave a South Norwalk club came back and threw a rock through its glass door, according to Norwalk Police. Alexander Gomez, 21, of 1655 Post Road East, then tried to bargain down his bond amount, according to Sgt. Lisa Cotto.

Gomez was asked to leave Club 77 on Washington Street because he took off his shirt, a violation of the bar's dress code, Cotto said. Subsequently the door was smashed and police were called. Officers said surveillance footage showed Gomez coming out the door at 12:45 a.m. and returning five minutes later and throwing a rock through the door.

Gomez denied having been in the bar, Cotto said. He then offered to confess if officers would reduce his bond amount. He was charged with third-degree criminal mischief and second-degree breach of peace. Bond was $500.

Dwight Davis, 23, of 17 Sention Ave., swung at another man and then resisted police officers at 2:13 a.m. He was handcuffed after a struggle and then he stiffened his body and had to be pushed into a patrol car. Officers had to pull him out of the car at headquarters. They said he was spitting at people.

Davis was charged with interfering with an officer and second-degree breach of peace. Bond was $10,000. He was also arrested on a 2008 warrant for violation of probation, for which Cotto had no details. Bond for that was $35,000.
