Cookie Connect announced it is closing its location in Morristown after five years with its last day being Friday, Aug. 28. The cookie store laid out the business reasons behind the closure.
"To put it in perspective: 25lbs of the high-quality chocolate we use cost us around $230 a year ago. Today? It costs around $480, more than double in just 12 months," Cookie Connect said on social media. "At the same time, we know everyone’s grocery and living bills have skyrocketed, meaning funds for a sweet treat just aren’t as plentiful."
The restaurant said it refused to cut corners and use cheaper ingredients.
"But making cookies with integrity is our core ethos. We refused to feed you anything less than the best. Because we couldn’t fathom hiking up our prices on you during a tough economy, operating this way became unsustainable," Cookie Cutter said. "We chose to absorb the blow for as long as we possibly could."
