Wilton motorists should plan ahead and leave early if their trips include passing the Crossways Shopping Center, located at Route 7 and Route33. Construction work began at that site Monday.
The construction is the final stages of the Connecticut Department of Transportation project that began last October but never finished because of heavy snow. The DOT will be finishing the entrance area, install sidewalks and complete landscaping work, a statement says. If the weather cooperates, construction should be finished by the end of the month, the statement says.
The DOT also said construction on the Route 33 bridge over the railroad tracks is scheduled to start at the end of March. The work will include finishing the expansion joints on the bridge surface and painting the remaining structural support assemblies. The DOT expects to finish by mid-April. Lanes will be closed while the work is done, the statement says.
