College Student Charged With Forging IDs

A Westport college student is facing 40 counts of second-degree forgery for allegedly buying and distributing fake IDs.

Through a joint investigation with the U.S. Customs Department, Westport police received information that Rylan Homscheid, of 39 Danbury Ave., was set to receive a package of 40 high-quality fake South Carolina driver's licenses from Hong Kong in January. During a warranted search of Homscheid's home for items related to the forgery, police also found marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Homscheid, 19, turned himself in to Westport police early Tuesday after learning the department held a warrant for his arrest. In addition to 40 counts of second-degree forgery, Homscheid was charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He appeared in Norwalk Superior Court on Tuesday, during which time he pleaded not guilty to all charges. He is next court due in court May 23.
