ABOUT THE  CENTER FOR FAMILY JUSTICE

By VALERIE FOSTER The Center for Family Justice  schedules its annual golf event The  5th Annual Golf Classic to benefit The Center for Family Justice will  take place June 16th at the Mill River Country Club, 4567 Main St.,  Stratford. The all-day event begins  with lunch at 11 a.m., followed by golf at noon and a reception and auction  after golf. “This is such a popular event, one that people return to  year after year,” says Debra Greenwood, president and CEO of The Center. “People  are doing what they love – playing golf – while helping to raise money for The  Center for Family Justice and the work we do turning those impacted by domestic  and sexual violence into survivors.” The Center for Family Justice (formerly The Center for  Women and Families), is bringing all domestic abuse, sexual assault and child  abuse services – crisis intervention, police, prosecutors, civil/legal  providers, counseling – under one roof, into its Bridgeport headquarters.  Additionally, The Center runs satellite offices in Fairfield, Monroe, Stratford  and Trumbull. This year’s  golf committee members include: Beth Andrews, Kayte Cwikla, Sarah Cwikla, Pam  Dougherty, Maggie Dunigan, Beth Keenoy, Allen Marx and Paul Santos. There are  still sponsorships available, and if you don’t have a foursome, the committee  will pair you with other participants. Tickets are  $250 per golfer. Rain date is June 17th. For more information about  the event, available sponsorships or to register, visit www.CenterForFamilyJustice.org or contact Sarah Lubarsky at (203) 334-6154, Ext. 31 or [email protected].

The Center for  Family Justice Inc. (formerly The Center for Women and Families of Eastern  Fairfield County Inc.), brings all domestic and sexual violence and child abuse  services – crisis intervention, police, prosecutors, civil/legal providers,  counseling – under one roof, in our headquarters in Bridgeport., CT. Together,  we work to break the cycle of  violence by helping those in crisis restore their lives. Although our  name has changed, we continue with the work we have provided for 12 decades,  providing free, confidential, bilingual crisis services in Bridgeport, Easton,  Fairfield, Monroe, Stratford and Trumbull. It is the comprehensive services our  partners are providing that are streamlining the road to healing and  self-sufficiency.

The Center  answers more than 2,000 calls on a 24-hour crisis hotline; assists with the  civil and criminal court processes for more than 3,000 survivors of domestic  violence; responds to more than 300 survivors of sexual assault and their  families; provides a safe home for more than 100 women and children fleeing  domestic abuse; and coordinates the investigations of more than 100 cases of  child sexual and severe physical abuse, developing service plans for the young  survivors and their families.

Additionally,  The Center educates the community to  prevent future abuse. Annually, we teach more than 7,000 children and teens  about how to build healthy relationships, stop bullying and prevent dating  violence.
