New York-based Galil Importing Corp, located in Hauppauge on Long Island, is recalling Lior Cinnamon Ground Seasoning because it may contain elevated lead levels, according to the company’s announcement posted on the FDA website.
Consumers should stop using the affected product and either discard it or return it to the purchase location for a refund.
The recall covers cinnamon in transparent plastic containers holding 3.2 ounces (90 grams). Shoppers should check for UPC 794711005484 and lot code GAP11304.

The seasoning was distributed to retail stores, grocery stores, delis, and supermarkets in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas, Florida, and Illinois. Distribution ran from Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2025, through Monday, Sept. 7.
No illnesses had been reported as of the company’s announcement Thursday, Sept. 24.
The recall followed testing by the Maryland Department of Health. The department collected and analyzed a sample that contained elevated lead levels, the company said.
Lead exposure may not cause obvious symptoms, particularly with short-term exposure to very low levels. An increased blood lead level may be the only apparent sign, according to the announcement.
The effects depend on the amount and duration of exposure, along with a person’s age and body weight. Children exposed to enough lead over weeks or months may suffer permanent central nervous system damage, learning disorders, developmental problems, and other long-term health effects.
Galil said it is notifying customers to halt distribution and sales and hold remaining inventory. The company has also launched a supplier investigation and strengthened testing and supplier verification measures.
