Murder-for-hire.
Christopher L. Tinnermon allegedly tried to arrange the killing of the victim in his previous criminal case while locked up at the Rappahannock Regional Jail, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.
The alleged plot came to light earlier this year when investigators received information about a possible murder-for-hire scheme involving an inmate.
Detectives spent months investigating the allegations, ultimately gathering evidence that authorities say pointed to Tinnermon attempting to have his previous victim killed.
On Wednesday, Oct. 28, investigators interviewed Tinnermon about the suspected plot, during which he made statements consistent with evidence detectives had already collected, the sheriff's office said.
Those statements prompted investigators to execute search warrants as the case against the 51-year-old Stafford man developed.
Authorities have not disclosed how Tinnermon allegedly planned to arrange the killing from behind bars, whether anyone else was involved, or how investigators uncovered the suspected scheme.
Tinnermon was charged with criminal solicitation to commit murder-for-hire and attempted aggravated murder-for-hire.
He remains held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
The investigation remains ongoing.
