Shahade, an International Chess Master, faces Chris Argento, a teacher originally from Bayonne, on the episode airing Tuesday, April 28 as he tries to start a winning streak.
Argento is a math teacher at Advanced Technologies Academy in Las Vegas.
Shahade dominated Ding to win "Jeopardy!", finding three Daily Doubles and entering "Final Jeopardy!" with enough runaway that the outcome was never in doubt. Going into the episode, Shahade was considered a top challenger to Ding's streak. An International Master at chess, Shahade's sister Jen has presented clues on the show about chess, according to The Jeopardy Fan, a website that tracks the show.
The Philly native is known for being a strong trivia player and a protege of Ben Chan, who won nine games in a row on "Jeopardy!" in 2024. On "Jeopardy!", he revealed he has gone viral for losing to child chess prodigies.
"Jeopardy!" airs at 7:30 p.m. on ABC stations in New Jersey and Philadelphia.
