Clarke Kitchens, the undisputed king of high end appliances in Fairfield County, offers more than just sub-zero refrigerators and Viking stoves. Along with design services, the company also provides special product demonstrations created to offer practical uses for their wares. But even if 2010 is not your year to install the kitchen of your dreams, you can still cook like the pros if you enroll in Clarkes new series of cooking classes offered in the companys South Norwalk showroom.
We have long offered cooking classes for customers who purchase Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances through one of our retail dealers, said Tom Clarke, president and CEO of the luxury appliance distribution company. However, weve always been asked about cooking classes open to the general public, so weve remodeled our South Norwalk facility to do just that and launched our Chefs Secrets series. We will also be expanding the series to include wine tastings, flower arranging and other personal lifestyle classes. In keeping with their top-of-the-line theme, theyve enlisted the talents of some of the areas best chefs, including Westport's Matt Storch, chef-owner of the highly-rated Match restaurant on Washington Street.
According to Chef Storch, who offered one of the first of the Chefs Secrets classes in September 2009, the experience doesnt get better than this showing, teaching and feeding people the art that I love in a gorgeous setting with top of the line equipment.
Coming up on April 29, Storch will lead a class on "Bounties of the Spring Market" and show participants how to select and prepare a meal using whatever is freshest at the local market. Knife skills and pasta making will be the topics for a May 20 class.
Prices vary, but all classes include instruction and a feast of the dishes demonstrated, complete with matching wines or cocktails.
The South Norwalk showroom at Clarke Kitchens is located at 64 South Main Street. More information on Clarkes Culinary Centers along with the schedule of upcoming classes is available at www.clarkeculinarycenter.com or by calling 800-842-5275, ext. 206.
