West Lampeter Township officers were on proactive patrol near Willow Street Pike and Long Lane at about 11:18 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, when they spotted Charles H. Null, 60, police said.
Null briefly avoided officers by hiding in a drainage channel behind Kendig Square Mall at 2600 Willow Street Pike in Lancaster, according to police.
An officer found him and told him he was under arrest, but Null then tried to run away, police said. He was quickly caught.
Null was charged with flight to avoid apprehension and evading arrest or detention on foot. He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Benner on Wednesday, Sept. 3, and could not post $20,000 bail.
He was remanded to Lancaster County Prison on the new charges and the warrant. A preliminary hearing is pending.
