Both shows, the medical drama "Watson" and the workplace comedy "DMV," considered "on the bubble" following earlier renewals, are officially off the network's roster as announced on Friday, March 27.

"Watson," a modern medical mystery drama set in the Sherlock Holmes universe, starred Morris Chestnut as Dr. John Watson. The series followed Watson's journey as a doctor specializing in rare disorders after Sherlock's death. Season 2 introduced Robert Carlyle as a mysterious, corporeal version of Sherlock Holmes, fueling fan theories about his true nature.

However, the show struggled to retain its audience after moving to a Monday time slot, becoming one of CBS's lowest-rated scripted series. Its series finale will air on Sunday, May 3.

"DMV," a first-year show centered on the chaotic lives of East Hollywood DMV employees, featured Harriet Dyer, Tim Meadows, and Molly Kearney. Despite a promising premiere in October 2025, the show's delayed and multi-platform viewing figures declined steadily throughout the season. Written by Dana Klein, the series will wrap with its finale on Monday, May 11.

The cancellations reflect CBS's strategy to make room for its strong 2026-2027 lineup. The network recently renewed 16 other programs, including hits like "Matlock," "NCIS: Origins," and "Sheriff Country." New pilots, including the highly anticipated "Eternally Yours," are also in development.

Both "Watson" and "DMV" were products of CBS Studios, and their end marks a shift in the network's programming for the upcoming television season.
