HARRISON, N.Y. New York Assembly member Robert Castelli (R-Goldens Bridge) will announce a second endorsement in his bid for re-election in a press conference Thursday at the Kensico Dam Plaza.
Castelli said he was thrilled when he heard that a national environmental organization would endorse him.
On a personal level, it touches me very deeply when organizations who are at the forefront of protecting the environment are willing to step up and endorse me because they believe I have been a strong steward of the environment, he said.
Castellis office said it would not reveal the name of the environmental organization until the press conference at 11 a.m. Thursday. It comes after an Aug. 3 endorsement by the League of Conservation Voters.
Sadly its not a typical Republican position to be endorsed by environmental groups, Castelli said. Now, it should be, but it isnt. So when Im endorsed by any of the many environmental groups who are good stewards of the environment and they recognize my stewardship of the environment, Im really touched by that. It reminds me that Im doing the right thing.
Castelli said he considers his co-sponsorship of a moratorium on hydraulic fracturing his foremost decision for the environment. Castelli said protecting the environment is a safety and bipartisan issue, and all elected officials should be stewards of the environment.
Castelli is running for a second full term against David Buchwald to represent the new 93rd Assembly District, which includes Harrison, Bedford, Lewisboro, Mount Kisco, New Castle, North Castle, North Salem, Pound Ridge and part of White Plains.
